Ok,full exposure mode:

-45yrs old
-master mechanic (got my 25 yrs of service watch today)
-smoked for 28yrs
-found an e-cig while browsing the net,got intrigued,ordered it...
-stopped smoking analogs the same day.
-ran out of cartridges,figured that I almost got rid of the nicotine habit.

But now,I ordered a couple litres of the juice and cartridges and became an e-cig maniac (currently own like 8 diff. models,but mostly similar)

All this took place 3 weeks ago,so yeah, I am a nOOb.

Q for the experts:

I read here and there that several of you use/buy a few spare atomizers;
is that to keep a single prefered flavor i.e. not mixing flavors...not sure if I am clear.

Anyways,I am trying to convert a few co-workers as well from analogs to "digital",starting them all on 510s with eventually get them on egoT or whatever I will discover along the way in a reasonable price range or by searching more,or with your help!

Welcome to VaporBoards and congrats on making the switch. I started about the same way you did... I got a 510 kit and within the first 6 months I had about 6 or 7 different mods and a stock pile of supplies. In my opinion, you just can't have enough backups. LOL! In the beginning I had 3-4 attys in use at the the same time, but now I just use one atty until it goes out then get stick on a new one. Still, I probably have about 80 spare attys, 30 boxes of cartomizers, a crap load of batteries and 2 years worth of nicotine.

I've been at this for just over two years now and I'm finally starting to slow down on the buying. LOL!

Sounds like you are off to a good start!!!

As for your atty question... I've tried a few and have settled with bridgeless, low resistance 901 style from avidvaper.com. I usually buy them 3 at a time for my 2 mods... and reorder when I'm down to one unused one. I rarely clean them, but seem to get between 3 and 8 weeks out of them. I stick with a single flavor (organic sweet cinnamon from sweet-vapes.com)
